We had a really great day on the Pig Island & Koh Tan tour! Everything was very well organized from start to finish, and the speedboat made it a really comfortable and enjoyable way to get around. Pig Island was definitely the highlight, with plenty of pigs and quite a few friendly dogs wandering around, which made the experience even more fun. We also had some time for swimming and snorkeling, which was a nice addition to the day. The lunch was okay, nothing particularly special, but overall the whole experience was very pleasant and relaxing. A great day out if you want to see Pig Island and enjoy some time on the water. Would definitely recommend!

Kayaking is one of the best ways to see Ang Thong from close range. The tour boats show you the scale of the marine park, but a kayak takes you alongside the limestone cliffs, beneath rocky overhangs and into shallow areas that larger boats cannot enter.
The water around the islands is often sheltered, although conditions depend on the wind and tide. Most tours use stable sit-on-top kayaks for two people. A guide normally leads the group, points out the route and helps anyone having difficulty.
On a standard Ang Thong tour, kayaking is usually one activity within a full day of sightseeing. You may paddle along the coast for around 20 to 45 minutes before returning to the beach or tour boat. The exact duration and location can change with sea conditions.
You do not normally kayak across open water between the main islands. The tour boat carries you to a sheltered paddling area, where the kayaks are launched from a beach or directly from the boat.
Expect limestone walls, small coves and clear views back towards the islands. Some routes pass beneath overhanging rock or through narrow openings. Not every tour visits caves or hidden lagoons, so check the itinerary if these are important to you.
No. The Emerald Lagoon on Koh Mae Ko is viewed from a staircase and observation platform. Visitors do not swim or kayak inside it.
Kayaking advertised at Koh Mae Ko takes place around the island’s coastline, not in the lagoon itself. The two activities may happen at the same stop, which is why tour descriptions sometimes make this unclear.
Kayaking is included on several speedboat and catamaran tours, but not on every Ang Thong trip. On the standard speedboat, VIP speedboat and premium catamaran tours, the kayak, paddle, life jacket and guide are included in the booking.
The budget big boat offers kayaking as a paid extra. If you want to paddle, add that charge when comparing its price with tours where kayaking is already included.
The Red Baron is mainly a relaxed sailing and sightseeing trip. Kayaking is not part of its regular Ang Thong itinerary.
Inclusions can change, so check the individual tour page before booking. The national park entrance fee is separate from the kayaking charge. A tour can include kayaking while still collecting the park fee at the pier.

Further paddling may be offered later in the day around Koh Wua Talap. You can also choose to climb the viewpoint, walk to Bua Bok Cave, swim or relax on the beach.
The dedicated tour uses stable Malibu sit-on-top kayaks made by Ocean Kayak. They are suitable for two adults, or two adults with a small child. Dry bags are supplied for phones and cameras, and a guide paddles with the group. If somebody becomes tired, the guide can assist or tow the kayak.
This is the right tour for people who want meaningful time on the water. It is not simply a short paddle added near the lunch stop.
No previous experience is needed. The kayaks are wide and stable, and the guide explains the basic technique before the group sets off.
You should still be able to get into and out of the kayak with limited assistance. Depending on the tour, this may happen on a beach, beside a larger boat or from a floating platform. Tell the operator before booking if you have restricted mobility, recent surgery or difficulty bending your knees.
Kayaking involves more effort than many guests expect. Heat, direct sun and repeated paddling can become tiring even when the water is calm. Drink regularly, use sun protection and take a break if you need one.
Wear swimwear or light clothing that can get wet. A hat with a secure strap, reef-safe sunscreen and sunglasses with a retaining cord are useful. Leave anything that cannot get wet on the main boat.

Life jackets should be worn as instructed, even by strong swimmers. Keep some distance from cliff faces when there is swell, follow the guide through narrow passages and do not enter caves independently.
The crew may shorten, move or cancel a kayaking session when wind, waves or tides make the planned route unsuitable. Conditions can differ between islands on the same day, so a guide may select a more sheltered location.
This does not necessarily mean the whole Ang Thong tour will be cancelled. The boat may still visit beaches, viewpoints and swimming stops even when kayaking is not considered safe.
Choose an ordinary speedboat or catamaran tour if you want kayaking to be one part of a varied day that also includes the Emerald Lagoon, snorkelling, beaches and the Koh Wua Talap viewpoint.
Choose the budget big boat if comfort and price matter more than paddling, but remember that kayaking costs extra.
